doooo Announces Third Album CONFUSION for July 29

doooo a.k.a. 宍戸マザファカ (Shishido Mazafaka) announces CONFUSION, his third album, due July 29. The single “のらりくらり (Norari Kurari) feat. PES & Chinza Dopeness” has been streaming since July 15.

For those unfamiliar: doooo is a producer, DJ, and artist from Iwate Prefecture, a member of the CreativeDrugStore collective, who has simultaneously built a reputation in Japanese rap and the underground art world. His 2017 debut PANIC drew attention for its artwork featuring objects made from “human flesh” (人肉アイテム / Niku Item), a provocative artistic practice he expanded through MOTHER FACTORY, his label and exhibition space. His 2022 second album, COLORFUL, confirmed his position in the experimental yet accessible electro-hip-hop sound.

CONFUSION arrives four years later. The album will be available digitally, on CD, on vinyl LP, and in a format unique to doooo: the “立方体レコード (Rippōtai Rekōdo),” a cubic record that functions as a standalone art object. Music and visual art have never been separate in his work, and this release makes that explicit again.

“のらりくらり (Norari Kurari)” is the third single from the album. It features PES (RIP SLYME) and 鎮座DOPENESS (Chinza Dopeness), two major names in Japanese rap with very different energies. The result is chill and unhurried, a direct contrast to the previous single “Music Please feat. ポチョムキン (Pochomukin), Neibiss & Mummy-D“, which was built around a funkier, more dancefloor-oriented mood.
