Osaka-based rapper INNOCENSE announces the release of his new single, Get On Down With Bad Self, on June 10, 2026, alongside a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl. Featuring Fukuoka MC FREEZ and production by NARISK, the track immediately positions itself as one of the most compelling underground Japanese rap releases of the summer.
Get On Down With Bad Self by INNOCENSE
The track is built around a universal idea: the party as a transformative ritual — a space where pain, failure, and bottled-up desire get swallowed by music, movement, and the night. Like a mirrorball that absorbs everything and throws back only light. The lyrics own past mistakes without drowning in them. They turn those experiences into depth, into material — something you’ll be able to look back on and laugh at someday. This is survivor rap: forward-looking without being naive, celebratory without being shallow. Over a dark, groovy beat from NARISK loaded with melancholy undertones, the flows of INNOCENSE and FREEZ interlock with natural chemistry. The energy is raw, the groove is heavy, and the message is clear: keep moving.
Hailing from Fukuoka, FREEZ is one of the most respected figures in Japanese underground rap, active since 1999 and a veteran of legendary crews including RAMB CAMP, ILL SLANG BLOW’KER, and INGLORIOUS BASTARDS. His presence on this track is no accident — it roots the single in a demanding lyrical tradition, far from polished mainstream formats. The pairing of the two MCs gives the record a rare density, two distinct voices that push each other forward rather than blend into the background.
The 7inch Vinyl: Built for DJs and Collectors Alike
Alongside the digital release, INNOCENSE drops a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl, available exclusively at live shows and through his official shop. The format is designed with both DJs and collectors in mind:
- Side A: Get On Down With Bad Self
- Side B: ILL GOOD JOB, taken from his 4th album PROGRESS (2025)
- Bonus: High-quality WAV downloads included — master, instrumental, and a cappella for both tracks
The music video for ILL GOOD JOB also drops on the same day.

INNOCENSE, A Veteran of Japan’s Underground
Having moved through Hyogo, Osaka, Tokyo, and Fukuoka, INNOCENSE is one of the most enduring figures in Japanese underground rap. He won the Osaka Spoken Word Slam championship in 2006, then traveled to New York solo in 2013 to perform freestyle sets live, building a reputation that extends well beyond the local circuit. His label SOUL EATER RECORDINGS has released four studio albums and multiple vinyl records. In 2025, he dropped PROGRESS, his fourth album, and is already deep into work on his fifth. “Get On Down With Bad Self” fits squarely into that momentum: an artist who keeps moving forward, keeps sharpening his craft, and never repeats himself.
