SARA-J & FOFU Release “All I Want Is You”, New Single from Project “alt.”

SARA-J and producer FOFU will release “All I Want Is You” on July 29. It will be the third single from neo nostalgia, the debut EP from the collective R&B project “alt.,” put together by INSENSE MUSIC WORKS.

SARA-J built the song around two specific reference points: Ciara’s “Body Party,” and the sample that carries it, Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo“. These are her own starting points, not a brief handed to her. FOFU brought in an arrangement drawn from Faith Evans’ vocal harmonies on DMX’s “How’s It Goin’ Down”. The beat is heavy, the groove is straight 90s R&B, but SARA-J’s vocal and FOFU’s production don’t try to recreate the originals; they borrow the frame and put something else in it.

SARA-J has been active since 2018. She first appeared on Spotify and Apple playlists, and then her fourth single, “OMAE“, was selected for the opening web commercial of the Apple Store Marunouchi in Tokyo. Since then, she’s built a steady string of collaborations with figures from Japanese rap, DJ RYOW on “Call Me“, JUBEE on “Joyride”, while developing a solo catalog that moves between alternative R&B, hip-hop, and electronic. She grew up between Japan and the Philippines, and that dual musical exposure shows in her approach: Japanese and English alternate naturally across her work.

FOFU is the producer who’s been working with her from the start. He studied in the United States and developed his ear for Black music at the source before returning to Japan. His production approach is end-to-end: topline, lyrics, mix, mastering, all handled in-house. He’s co-produced with starRo, worked with Jay Park on six tracks including “Whenever” in 2025, and co-produced a Sony Music debut project after receiving direct validation from Kubota Toshinobu. The “alt.” project brings together artists who grew up on the same classic R&B, each approaching it from where they stand now. aimi opened the EP with her cover of Ashanti’s “Foolish“. “All I Want Is You” will be the third single: another way into the same project, from a different angle, more production-forward, more deliberate in its sample choices. “All I Want Is You” will be available on all streaming platforms from July 29.
