TOWN STUDIOS Drops Its First Compilation

TOWN STUDIOS, a recording studio based in Nippombashi, Osaka, releases Compilation Vol.1 on July 18. Eight tracks, four producers, fourteen rappers: it’s the studio’s first collective project and a snapshot of where Kansai rap stands right now. On the production side: Made In Crimson, DJ Tommy The Goodjob, 9D, and A$AMI. These three producers are active in Osaka’s club circuit, notably at Madam Woo and PURE, which frames the project as sitting at the junction of studio work and club culture rather than one or the other.

Most of the rappers are young and largely unknown outside the Kansai region. PAPADOC recently appeared in ¥ellow Bucks’ “Player’s Tuesday – Garage Cypher“. Yen STEED just dropped CNG MIXTAPE 2 with CNG Squad. Glamour Dalie is drawing attention in Osaka. YJI is 19. The rest of the cast (Gakuro, KAIJI, 8810, BENRO, Tencho, ZZZ:ZZZ, NOBB, Rocco808, Miro, Tony A.J, DUNK11) rounds out a lineup that reads more like an actual working circle than a curated roster. The standout track, according to the source, is “SUICIDE APE feat. NOBB, Rocco808, Glamour Dalie, PAPADOC, Miro“, produced by Shimba, flagged as the album’s banger. “Step In The City“, produced by Made In Crimson featuring YJI, Gakuro and ZZZ:ZZZ, already has a video out via HAZE WAVE FILMS.

The release show took place on July 19 at CIRCUS OSAKA as part of THE STAGE powered by +81 GAME, with the full lineup on stage. TOWN STUDIOS Compilation Vol.1 is available on all streaming platforms.
