Jiyujin dash releases “day by day” on September 9. Based in Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, the artist works in rap and painting as two parallel practices that have run alongside each other since his debut.
The track says something simple: you can’t go back to yesterday, you can’t get ahead of tomorrow. What’s left is today. “day by day” puts that into words drawn directly from Jiyujin dash‘s daily life: greetings in his neighborhood, time with the people around him, hours spent on music. No grand statements, no elaborate metaphor. The hook says it plainly: “day by day やるだけ こなすだけ” (yaru dake, konasu dake, “do it, just get through it”), and “泳ぎ疲れ 浮くだけ それもyes!” (oyogi tsukare, uku dake, sore mo yes!, “tired of swimming, floating is enough, and that’s fine too“). Keep moving, stop when you need to, start again, without measuring yourself against anyone else.
The production sits in the same register jiyujin dash has been developing across recent releases: beats that don’t overreach, that leave room for the words. The clarity of the writing and the ease of the flow carry the track. His place in the Kansai hip-hop scene, combined with his painting practice, builds an artistic identity that reaches beyond rap alone: both disciplines share a way of making visible what daily life usually leaves unnoticed. “day by day” is available on all streaming platforms from September 9.
