Yo-Sea Drops “New Journey” Video with 5lack and Announces First Asia Tour

Yo-Sea releases the video for “New Journey feat. 5lack“, a track from his second album Beyond the Sea, out July 28. Maruyama Yudai directed the video, as he did for the previous clip, “Follow Me“. The shoot took place in Okinawa, Yo-Sea’s hometown. 5lack and Aru-2, who composed the track, both appear in the video.

The result is unhurried: all three were filmed in their everyday surroundings in Okinawa, the island’s landscapes in the background. Yo-Sea’s music tends to place ordinary situations in a gentle light, and the video doesn’t try to do more than that. Beyond the Sea is Yo-Sea’s first album in three years. It runs thirteen tracks, with 5lack and VaVa as the main featured artists. Since emerging in the Japanese R&B scene, Yo-Sea has built a recognizable sound, mellow and melancholic, that’s found listeners across Japan and in neighboring countries.

The evidence: Yo-Sea is heading out on his first Asia tour. Four cities: Seoul on October 9 at KT&G Sangsangmadang Live Hall in Hongdae, Taipei on October 11 at The Wall Live House, Bangkok on October 30 at Volume Livehouse (The Street Ratchada), and Hong Kong on November 1 at CHAMAME LIVEHOUSE 茶豆 (Chamame). Local promoters handle tickets in each city. Each of these cities already has an active R&B and hip-hop scene that consumes Japanese independent music. Yo-Sea isn’t the first artist on his roster to play these rooms, but this is his first time in this circuit.
