Eevee and French composer-rapper Sonikem release “YAMERARENAI“, available on Sonikem’s shop. Photography by Yusuke Suzuki (aka). It’s the first documented collaboration between the two artists, and a concrete example of the connection Sonikem has been building from Paris with the Japanese scene.
Eevee is a Tokyo-based rapper and performer. A former idol and member of group SHAR-LiE, she began rapping through MC battles in 2023, competing at Dis4U, Red Bull Roku Maru, and NEO GENESIS, before releasing her first single, “introduction,” that same year. On February 2, 2025, the day after SHAR-LiE’s final show, she adopted the name Eevee and moved fully into her solo project. In December 2025, she played her first one-man live at Shibuya WWW. Her background is unusual in the Japanese scene: fifteen years of dance and acrobatics training before rap; she integrates stage technique directly into her performances rather than keeping it separate.
Sonikem is a French composer, DJ, and rapper, founder of Blender Book Magazine. He’s been working with Japanese artists for several years, with a catalog that runs from boom bap to lo-fi to electronic. His engagement with Japanese hip-hop is longstanding: he has co-signed several projects with artists from the scene, and RJHH is one of his official media partners. “YAMERARENAI” fits that continuum, with Eevee as his first female vocal collaboration.
