Child Plate Peops Release Debut Album Around

Child Plate Peops, a six-member group operating across two cities, Niigata and Fukushima, release their debut album Around on August 26 as a digital release. Fourteen tracks, all from a group whose members share the same birth year: 2002.

The group started as a trio: eldalailama, Nico Melo and ven, all based in Niigata. They released the EP Diver in that format in 2022. Then DELL, Sada, and Y Art, the three Fukushima members, joined, and the current lineup took shape. The two cities are about two hours apart by shinkansen. The album was built between in-person sessions in Fukushima and remote coordination over Discord.

Around was conceived as a direct record of what the members are living through: their environments, their emotions, the ties between them. No abstract concept, no imposed theme. The group puts it plainly: they wanted to describe what was around them with precision. The sound reflects that: the album moves between trap, pop rock, electronica, alternative R&B, and folk depending on the track, without trying to smooth the transitions. Singles “Table talk” and “光 (Hikari / Light)” came out earlier in the year.

Eldalailama handles most production, with DELL taking “Do it!” and “Season“. Eldalailama also handles mixing and mastering. Art direction is co-signed by Joe Ikarashi and Shota Watanabe Nave. The group was picked up by she’s rough, a YouTube channel that curates emerging Japanese SoundCloud artists, and played the Minamiuonuma Harvest Festival in 2025 after winning its new artist showcase. Around is available on all streaming platforms from August 26.
