万寿 (Manjyu) Announces 5th Album 5 knots for September 2

Manjyu, a rapper based in Yokosuka (Kanagawa) and a member of the group HOOLIGANZ, announces 5 knots, his fifth album, due September 2. It’s his first full album in eight years. The single “wild river” has been streaming since July 24, with a video now up on YouTube. Yokosuka is a port city where the sea, mountains, and a long-established US military base all sit next to each other. That geography has run through Manjyu‘s music since the beginning: lyrics that start local and stay honest, built on solid rap craft without reaching for effect. 5 knots carries the same approach, framed around the idea of making music that could only come from this particular port.

Twelve tracks. Manjyu produces under the name Rap La Beats and is joined by MASS-HOLE, MAHBIE and ariosounds. Features come from OJIBAH (SD JUNKSTA/Team-C/ムード会議), IKE (Doggy G Central Records) and ionloops, a new-generation rapper and beatmaker from Yokosuka. DJ DIG-IT and DJ KEN5 handle cuts on two respective tracks.
