KOJOE Releases bass tape, an Instrumental Compilation on LP and Cassette

KOJOE releases bass tape on November 11 via P-VINE / J.Studio. Fourteen instrumentals, all pulled from tracks he produced over the course of his career. The project comes in three formats: LP (limited edition), cassette (limited edition), and digital.

The premise is straightforward: KOJOE is primarily known as an MC, but he’s been producing for a long time, and bass tape puts that work front and center without the voices that originally carried it. The tracks aren’t random picks: BoSS RuN DeM with AKANE and Awich, Wake Waka Run with ¥ellow Bucks, WARnin’ with 仙人掌 (Seninsho) and RUDEBWOY FACE, “6秒ルール (Roku Byo Ru-ru / Six Second Rule)” with 5lack. These are productions that circulated through the scene, and hearing them stripped back says something about how they hold up on their own.

KOJOE runs J.Studio, his own studio and label, with bases in Tokyo, Osaka, Yamaguchi and Okinawa. That network has kept him working regularly with MONJU, Tha Jointz, MuKuRo and BUPPON, among others. bass tape fits the same logic: not a promotional project, but a physical object that documents one side of his production work, one that casual listeners hadn’t necessarily had a direct way into before. The tracklist moves across both sides without following the originals’ chronological release order. Side A opens with “WARnin'” and closes with “Trap Killa.” Side B ends with “Neptunes.” Fourteen tracks total. The LP is available to pre-order at P-VINE SHOP for ¥4,950; the cassette for ¥2,530.
